The Qingdao Municipal Committee of the CPC¡ú
As one of the most developed cities in China, Qingdao was recognized as a Golden City in 2006. The Working Committee for Offices Directly under the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the CPC has been promoting BSC in a number of important ways. For example; 1) by taking the leading position among Party and government organizations in China, thereby strengthening and improving performance management for the Party and government organizations, 2) by fostering scientific development rationales, promoting social harmony and realizing sound and rapid development, 3) by demonstrating results in efficiency and effectiveness in areas such as administration (cost reduction of 6% annually), overall satisfaction (No. 1 ranking city), and complaints reduced (down 15.8%), and 4) perhaps most importantly, having an impact by being a role model of advanced organization management (governmental organization) nationwide.

2   ¡ûTsingtao Brewery
Tsingtao Brewery is the most famous brewer in China, with more than 40 breweries and malt plants. The company is among the ten largest brewers in the world. In the late 1990's, Tsingtao Brewery launched its "Great Famous Brand" campaign and implemented a series of strategic initiatives, such as market networking and cost reduction. The company also led a wave of merger and acquisitions in the local beverage industry. By using scientific management methods and developing its corporate culture, the company has successfully aligned these newly acquired brewers to its strategy.

Zhejiang Supor Co., Ltd.¡ú
Zhejiang Supor Co., Ltd. is the first listed company in the domestic cookware industry, with leading market positions in cookware, small kitchen and etc. The BSC program was initiated by Supor¡¯s President in 2003 at the highest levels of the company and, within the next two years, was successfully cascaded and implemented at both the departmental and individual employee levels. In July 2004, the company issued the Fundamental Law of Supor, in which the BSC system was formally positioned as the company¡¯s strategic execution system. The BSC system brought significant benefits to Supor both in the financial and non-financial areas. In the period 2001 to 2006, Supor¡¯s sales revenue and net assets increased by 4.2 times (2B RMB in 2006) and 8 times respectively. ¡°Improvement in internal communication; organization alignment; heightening of employee¡¯s morale and enhancement of strategy management are the 4 significant organizational benefits BSC brought us, besides financial benefits in our company¡± A Supor Executive said.

5   ¡ûChina Everbright Bank, TaiYuan Branch
TaiYuan Branch is the provincial finance branch of China Everbright Bank. At the begging of 2004, TaiYuan Branch introduced BSC as its strategy execution tool, and implemented BSC in HQ, department/sub-branch, and individual levels. Since then, total assets of TaiYuan Branch have broken through 21 billion RMB, total managed assets of private customers have increased to 10 billion RMB, and net profit grew 188% in 2006.

Vanke ¡ú
Vanke is a market leader in the China real estate industry. It earns sales revenue of 21.23 billion yuan and profit of 2.15 billion yuan in 2006. It has been recognized and awarded for being the most respected company in China 5 times, the only company in the China real estate industry to have been so recognized. Vanke is also recognized as one of the most valuable public company in China by CCTV. As the GM, Mr. Yu commented, ¡°BSC is the most important management tool in Vanke.¡± After implementing BSC, its customer satisfaction rate increased to 87% from 78% (2002 to 2006), and its revenue soared to 17.85 billion yuan from 4.57 billion yuan, with total market value growing to 67.2 billion yuan from 7.17 billion.

6 ¡ûChina UnionPay
As China¡¯s one and only bankcard organization, China UnionPay proposed to build China¡¯s own bankcard brand in order to continuously improve service capabilities and compete with global bankcard companies like Visa and MasterCard. China UnionPay¡¯s BSC project started in April 2005 and lasted until the end of the same year. Project scope covered: corporate strategy map and BSC, strategy map and BSC for 23 departments (including 1 branch company) , plus 60 individual pilot scorecards. It also established an Office of Strategic Management (an OSM) to implement the BSC system. The establishment of the BSC system has helped the company to achieve significant financial and non-financial results, increases in transaction volume, number of UnionPay Standard Cards issued, domestic and overseas market share
